Harry Lime is the part played by Orson Welles in Carol Reed's movie The Third Man.

In the movie he is some kind of smuggler who works in cold war Vienna, and sells bad antibiotics who make hundreds of children disabled for life.

What is interesting in the character is that he tries to justifies his misdeeds to a friend, and does it quite aptly - his text is written by Orson Welles, and the great actor's charisma is impressive.

"In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love. They had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

He can be quite thought provoking at times, can't he? Orson Welles claims however this text is not about his real opinions.

Indeed the first time we see Welles is one of the most impressive scenes in Cinema. And he steals the whole movie, although he appears only in the last third

He is also a cat fan...
