A
fan term for the setting in which most
television shows based on
Hasbro toy properties (
G.I. Joe,
Transformers,
Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light,
Jem and the Holograms,
Inhumanoids, and so forth) took place.
These shows often shared the same creative staff, including writers like Flint Dille, and incidental characters like tabloid TV reporter Hector Ramirez (a parody of Geraldo Rivera if ever there was one) would also show up on several of them. In the Transformers third-season episode "Only Human," a character named "Snake" who was clearly an aged Cobra Commander, made an appearance. It was obvious to most viewers, even as young as we were, that all these shows were set in the same universe, and some fan coined the term "Hasbroverse" from a contraction of "Hasbro" and "universe" to describe it.
(The G.I. Joe and Transformers comic books were also set in the same universe, as evidenced by the crossovers in the original and Generation Two comic books--but this is clearly a different setting from the TV shows, and thus a different Hasbroverse.)
