Hattori Hanzo

Hattori Hanzo Masahige(1541-1596). Leader of the Iga ninja clan. He was a loyal retainer of Ieyasu Tokugawa. Hanzo was killed by ninja from the Fuma clan in an ambush at sea. There is a 50% chance that any ninja character in a video game is named Hanzo.

Hattori Hanzo Masashige, son of Hattori Nazo Yasunaga, is the most famous ninja of the Iga province. He had one son, Iwani-no-kami Masanari. He also earned the nickname "Devil Hanzo" while fighting under Tokugawa Ieyasu, which helped distinguish him from fellow ninja Watanabe Hanzo.

Hattori Hanzo is portrayed by Japanese film legend Sonny Chiba in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill.

He crafts The Bride's ultimate sword, to which he attests: "If on your journey you encounter God, God will be cut."
