He was found, dead, sitting in his favorite easy chair. His earbuds were stuck in the organs they were designed to be stuck in, also plugged into his iPhone. And his iPhone was plugged into the wall charger so it never ran out of juice.

It was playing something. The investigator carefully, with a gloved hand, removed one of the buds to listen to what the poor dead man had been listening to. She found that, for some odd reason that nobody would ever know, the man had been listening to the haunting theme music of John Carpenter’s Halloween movie.

On an endless loop.

The iPhone was dutifully playing the music endlessly for its owner, who it failed to realize had been dead for three days.

The cause of the man’s death has yet to be determined.
