Built in Amarillo, Texas, in the Helium Centennial year of 1968, this is a gleaming tripod of hollow steel tubes, stretching up impossibly far like a hypodermic piercing the sky. The three legs and the spire on top are each separate time capsules - 25, 100, 500, and 1,000 years respectively. Filled with helium and contributions from the town, including coins, movies and a projector, family genealogies, plant seeds, and a dehydrated apple pie. It's a sundial, too.
