Notes:
If sage isn't your favorite herb, consider substituting an equal amount of fresh dill, thyme, rosemary, basil or chives in this recipe.

Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 Tbs sugar
1 Tbs baking powder
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 Tbs chopped fresh sage or 1 1/2 tsp dried sage
1 1/2 cups beer, freshly opened
1 cup finely grated cheddar cheese

Preparation:
Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease and flour a 9-inch loaf pan. In a medium bowl, stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and sage. Stir in beer and cheese until completely blended. Spread evenly in prepared pan. Bake until a thin wooden skewer inserted in center of loaf comes out clean, 50-55 minutes. Cool in pan 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire rack to cool completely.
