Plot synopsis
Val Waxman (Allen) is a New York film director, double Academy Award winner, whose best years are definitely over. Forced to direct deodorant commercials in snowy Canada, his carreer slowly but surely enters the filmmakers' hell. One day he gets to direct a big budget film produced by his ex-wife's fiancee. However, just before day 1 on the set, Val goes psychosomatically blind. His agent, and then his ex-wife help him to keep this rather unimportant disability a secret from the rest of the crew and the studio executives.
Waxman manages to complete the film without seeing it. Then a few days after editing and cutting are complete, voila, he regains his eyesight. As might be expected, the film Waxman directed turns out to be terrible and is shunned by the nations critics. After a complete flop in the US, the film is suddenly appraised in France and is declared to be one of the best American films ever made. Val and his ex-wife move to Paris. The End.
