Holy Saturday is the last day of Holy Week, and coincides in principle (though not always in practice) with the Sabbath of Passover. Sometimes mistakenly called Easter Saturday (see Easter Week), it marks the day when Jesus was in the tomb Joseph of Arimathea had provided. In some churches, the Easter Vigil begins after dark on the evening of Holy Saturday, as the Sabbath is over at sunset. Very little else of a liturgical nature occurs on Holy Saturday.
