Hoover Horror is an old school independent horror short from 1982. Written, produced, and starring Robert V. Ferrin and John DeNicola, the movie involves a lot of silly puns and sight gags as a detective goes around town trying to figure out who is killing people and cleaning up after them. In the end, they discover it is a sentient vacuum cleaner that is running amok. The humans finally figure out how to stop the Hoover by unplugging it.

Overall, the concept seems kinda dumb, but the crew doesn't take themselves seriously. All of the gags are funny, and some are unexpected, especially when the Hoover Horror sucks up some of their friends, like actor John White. The writing is clever and the cinematography is, for the most part, clear except for fast-panning or motion shots. If I recall, it was filmed on a Super-8mm camera.

I originally saw this film at a showing at SUNY Potsdam in upstate NY, followed by a meet and greet with the cast and crew. It's long out of print now, but if you can find a copy on DVD, I suggest picking up a copy for yucks.
