Hope Emily Allen (1883-1960)

A leading medieval scholar known for her research on Richard Rolle a 14th century English mystic and for discovering the "The Book of Margery Kempe". Allen graduated from Bryn Mawr College in 1905, and completed her master's degree (also at Bryn Mawr) the next year. She then went to Radcliffe to study for her Ph.D. Her work focused on themes of spirituality, feminism and the Middle Ages.
