Hot sheeting is the accepted standard practice where it is necessary for more than two people to share a bed at different times of the day. It merely consists of removing the sheets and pillowcase after sleep in respect for the next person to use the bed. It is a practice found in work and military environments where living space is limited.

Fortunately, it’s uncommon wherever the first world stretches its influence. Having spent three years living on oil rigs all over the world, I have had to hot sheet it only once. This was on land in Mexico, and hot sheeting was the least of our worries since we had no hot water and ants were the primary user of the kitchen space.
