In case of Fire:

I saw this while reading through the safety guidelines at the hospital, though it works for any large building (except science labs, more procedures). Remember the simple acronym RACE.

  • Remove all personnel from the immediate room/area
  • Activate the fire alarm. Better yet, have someone else do it while you do the rest of the steps.
  • Contain the fire, close the fireproof doors to the building's wing, use a fire extinguisher if the fire is small enough and you feel safe enough.
  • Evacuate your coworkers, visitors, patients, students
Don't forget to just GET OUT OF THERE, but still yell for help and don't forget to tell the people nearby something's wrong. Activating the fire alarm takes seconds, especially if you remember seeing it done before.

Don't use an elevator.
