Interesting novel in the Star Wars chronology. Follows the quasi-jedi-in-training Corran Horn as he tries to rescue his wife Mirax from a female imperial admiral and her contingant of "a strange offshoot of a twisted part-jedi/sith tradition" followers. The Caamasi race is gone into in quite some depth here, and they are a fascinating pacifistic people with some decidedly thought-provoking philosophies. This book stirred up attention among Star Warriors mostly because it was the first SW novel ever to be written in first person, and from a first-person perspective than with an omnicient third narrator. It quite throws reading off at first, when you realize you are reading "i" instead of the usual "he". Not the best of the SW novels but far from the worst.
