Ashen eyes glistening in the dark, shades thrown by worn sweaters, filth and cigarette vapours: I don't need to be loved by you

Here in the stretch of times past, the subdued inter-dimension of your memory

has never lined up with reality

you keep fighting fire with fire but your rage is like a dry sheet

tears soaking into the mattress with the dent in the middle

your hard back and broad shoulders

drawing into yourself

far away from me

Ashen eyes glistening in the dark, damp entrails left by your towels, don't you dare touch me - I'll hurt you

this is the only imprint left in my mind, the coals in my heart cooled at last

vague as you were you will be

you keep fighting fire with fire but you let me slip right through

those cold hands cradling those cold stained desires

your hard back and broad shoulders

no angel wings

ever grew there
