What a song. 'I Wanna Rock' is a song by Twisted Sister, a 1980s metal band: the song was released in the 80s on their album 'Stay Hungry.' Of course, I was probably in nappies when the song was released so it's safe to say my love of the song is purely ironic.

OK, I admit, the song is actually quite good (as well as being good in a cheesy kinda way) and the guitar riff is great. The song is the epitome of (now) camp 80s rock music, and the video is fantastic.

The video is a masterpiece, and consists of a strict teacher going up to a fat student and shouting at him for doodling Twisted Sister pictures on his book.

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO WITH YOUR LIFE? he shouts after saying something like 'I oughta slap your fat face...'

The fat kid then stands up and goes...

I WANNA ROCK!

The teacher is propelled through the roof and strangely enough ends up in a basketball court, where he goes through the net. The rest of the video shows him being suitably tortured, doing things like falling into wet cement.

Look for it on Kazaa if you can't find it, because it's a very funny video and worth watching for the hairstyles alone.

Without further ado, here's the song:

I wanna rock! (Rock)
I wanna rock! (Rock)
I want to rock (Rock)
I wanna rock! (Rock)

Turn it down you say,
Well all I gotta say to you is time and time again
I say, "No!"
No! No, No, No, No, No! Tell me not to play
Well, all I got to say to you when you tell me not to play,
I say, "No!"
No! No, No, No, No, No!
So, if you ask me why I like the way I play it
There's only one thing I can say to you

I wanna rock! (Rock)
I wanna rock! (Rock)
I want to rock (Rock)
I wanna rock! (Rock)

There's a feelin' that
I get from nothin' else and there ain't nothin' in the world
That makes me go!
Go! Go, go, go, go, go!
Turn the power up
I've waited for so long so I could hear my favorite song so,
Let's go!
Go! Go, go, go, go, go!
When it's like this I feel the music shootin' through me
There's nothin' else that I would rather do

I wanna rock! (Rock)
I wanna rock! (Rock)
I want to rock (Rock)
I wanna rock! (Rock)

I believe that the song was included in the movie Road Trip, and the words are by the band's frontman (or ex-frontman), Dee Snider.
