I was doing so well, could we just be friends? Oh, I feel a weakness coming on.

I was fine,
before, really. I was.
There were days, probably weeks when I was focused,
which is to say, not preoccupied

There was a time,
not that long ago
when I went to work, drove home and never gave her a second thought.
Her, the person who was here before she left.

I had become,
finally, a regular person, boring and drama-free.
It was peaceful- no longer consumed with something I could not have.

Now, you
Where did you come from?
Do you realize how bad your timing is?

This time,
I am saying No.
I will not pretend that I am prepared;
will respectfully decline the invitation

No thank you.

Was not meant to be like this, not what I planned at all
don't want to feel like this, so that makes it all. Your. Fault.
