Internet Protocol secure is a protocol for IPv4 and IPv6 which provides secure IP traffic over inherently insecure networks. IPsec is based on two protocol: Authentication Header and Encapsulating Security Payload which rely on cryptographic keys. Since Virtual Private Network became a major hype word, the interest in IPsec software and hardware has soared.
