Tenor saxophonist born in Boussard, LA on Halloween in 1922. After stints with Cab Calloway and Count Basie in the 40's, Jacquet led his own bands through much of the 50's and 60's before going into semi-retirement in 70's. In the 80's Jacquet came out of retirement to form a touring big band and recorded several albums in his trademark soulful jazz style.

In 1993 Jacquet realized a new height playing with another famous (if somewhat less talented saxophonist) Bill Clinton at the White House.
