An imm is an immortal -- imm being an often pejorative term -- or an administrator of a MUD. Often bossy, manipulative, power-crazed and quite insane, imms will rarely contribute anything meaningful to the MUD, yet must be worshipped abjectly. Imms spend their days in a blissful stupor of cheating and spying.

from the player's perspective, it often seems as if imm's contribute nothing useful. However, many imms spend long hours removing obscure bugs from code so that the players dont bitch constantly. the players think the imm does nothing because everything works fine. see sysadmin.
