A Nodeshell Rescue
Inigo Skimmer first came to the attention of the readers of Discworld novels in "The fifth Elephant" to help Duke Samuel Vimes with trade negotiations in Uberwald. Knowing Vimes's consistent lack of diplomatic skills, the patrician decided to add Skimmer to the entourage, which consisted of Lady Sybil Ramkin, the notable dragon breeder and wife of Vimes, Sergeant Detritus (just to annoy the dwarfs of Uberwald] and Corporal Cheery Littlebottom, a skirt-wielding female dwarf (just to annoy the dwarfs even more).
Thanks to Vimes's deduction skills it quickly transpires that Inigo Skimmer is actually an Assassin, though a rather humble one (he graduated with the help of a scholarship), to help protect Vimes and Lady Sybil. Oh yes, and to spy a bit. He is small, clears his throat a lot, and wears rather unfashionable black clothes, making him look more like an accountant
Inigo Skimmer unfortunately comes to an untimely death at the hands of werewolfs while trying to signal Ankh-Morpork for help.
Which just shows you again never to trust large dogs.
