The International Confederation of Free Trade Unions or ICFTU, was founded in 1949 and is a confederation of national trades union organisations. It has three major regional organisations, APRO for Asia and the Pacific, AFRO for Africa, and ORIT for the Americas, but no equivalent organisation for Europe as the European Trade Union Confederation or ETUC already does that job.

The ICFTU has 225 affiliated organisations located in 148 countries and territories continents, with a combined membership of over 150 million. These affiliates are generally national trade union confederations such as the British Trades Union Congress or the American AFL-CIO (and depending on local politics and linguistics some nations have more than one national union federation), or in the case of the less populated parts of the world whatever union or unions exist.
