The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) is a professional networking and educational association committed to enhancing the quality of life through excellence in interior design and advancing interior design through knowledge. IIDA was founded in 1994, as the result of a merger of the Institute of Business Designers (IBD); the International Society of Interior Designers (ISID); and the Council of Federal Interior Designers (CFID).  The goal of the merger was to create an international association with a united mission that would represent interior designers worldwide and speak on their behalf with a single voice.

Some of the main goals of IIDA are to be advocates for design excellence, nurture a global interior design community, maintain educational standards, respond to trends in business and design, provide superior information about interior design and related issues, and to use its own rapidly developing body of knowledge as a resource for designers internationally.
