Opponents of globalization often act as if it were some sort of coherent movement to fight against, as if there were some single entity whose destruction would bring to a halt all of the world's miseries. The reality, of course, is a bit more complicated. Globalization is the result of the interactions of hundreds of governmental organizations, thousands of NGOs, tens of thousands of corporations, and billions of individuals--all with competing agendas. The particular flavor of globalization that has caused such uproar, however, is the golden straitjacket set of economic and social policies as put forth by these organizations.
