Iphicles is the mortal half-brother of Heracles in the Greek myths(the more often used reference name, Hercules, comes from the Roman versions of the myth). He is the son of Amphitryon and Alcemena. Unlike his brother, he was not fated for the hero's life. It is even noted that the infant Iphicles cowered in the corner of their mutual crib while Heracles choked the two snakes sent by Hera to slay the children.

Iphicles was the father of Iolaus, Heracles' charioteer who accompanied the hero on several quests such as the adventures with Jason and the Argonauts and even helped Heracles defeat the Hydra.
