(Eponymously named for Queen Isabella I)

A style of Spanish architecture, flourishing in the period c. 1480 to c. 1525. Characterised by rich ornamentation, and the gradual introduction of features from Italian Renaissance architecture into the existing mix of Moorish and Gothic architectural elements. Considered to be the first phase of the so-called plateresco style.
