James Breckenridge Speed (1844-1912)
Industrial Pioneer in Louisville, Kentucky. He helped establish the city's railway system, as well as developed and operated coal interests throughout the state.

In 1924, the James Breckenridge Speed Foundation helped establish the newly renamed J.B. Speed School of Engineering at the University of Louisville, and later the J.B. Speed Art Museum.
