James R. Denny was born in
Silver Point, Tennessee on Febuary 28th, 1911
In 1951 he became head of the
Grand Ole Opry's Artists Service Bureau, and in 1953 he stepped out
The first non-performer inducted into the
Country Music Hall Of Fame, his claim to fame came in the form of his skills as a talent broker. He known as the "power behind the career of legends"
He founded
Cedarwood Music Publishing, one of
Nashville's major publishing houses , with partner
Webb Pierce in 1953. Many future famous artists signed a contract with Cedarwood including;
Buddy Holly,
Mel Tillis,
Curtis Goron, and Cindy Walker.
James also started the
Jim Denny Artists Bureau with Lucky Moeller, and
Dollie Records.

Kitty Wells,
Hank Snow,
Bill Monroe and
Minnie Pearl
