A band operating out of New York City, formed in 2001. Can be described as indie-core post-rock or conversely, simply as noise. They tour quite regularly, and have two full length releases and an EP.
My first experience with this band was when they opened for
Mogwai at
Irving Plaza. They had the idea of 'singing' into telephone receivers instead of the standard fare microphones. The singer played the drums, but not at the same time, leading to the destruction of the drum kit midway through their set. The female guitarist also alternated between playing and hopping around the stage and seemingly wandering around backstage. Their bassist, however, seemed very talented. Mogwai could be seen watching them from the side of the stage with faces a mix of horror and curious bemusement. The crowd was pleased when they got off the stage. I suggest avoiding them.
