This little ditty is a murmur of praise to all the folk whose toil's fruit we crave, where'er they may be, I wish'em well and may they thrive in liberty.

Serendipity? Collective unconscious? Who knows! The fact is that, after penning this little ditty, I was tempted to Google the first line of the refrain... just idle curiosity, I do that sometimes, as I guess many of us do. To my surprise I came across this and also this! Ain't it curious what the WideWorld'oWebs throws up? I'm now looking into Jonathan Crissman of whom I'd never heard... I listened with rapture to his pretty little song, and far echoes of my father singing me lullabies, in his rich baritone, came back to me with the phrase "Some love coffee, some love tea".
Ain't it funny how deeply some of these atavic tokens are buried? Neither had I ever come across Vance Randolph, who apparently hails from Arkansas. We sure have improved even on the fabled Library of Alexandria: may we be wise and protect this exceptional resource from any harm—and long may it remain free and unfettered, in our eternal quest for liberty!
decoy_hunches kindly sent me a link to "Java Jive" by The Inkspots, for which I am very grateful! I had completely forgotten that old song, and to think that The Inkspots had been a childhood favorite of my father's... that must be where the phrase "some love coffee, some love tea" must have come from—for me. Talk of deeply buried atavic tokens!
shaogo reminds me of "The Coffee Song" sung by Frank Sinatra and others back in the day... another fond memory of my father's lullaby croonings! Certainly coffee was a much more central part of the culture...
