Joan Jett started out as a teenage member of the Runaways (along with Lita Ford et al), then formed Joan Jett and the Blackhearts after the breakup of the Runaways. Her biggest hit was "I Love Rock 'n' Roll".

As mentioned above, Joan Jett began her career in showbiz as a teen rock star with the Runaways. This phase ended (more like crashed and burned) by the time she reached the tender age of 19, but she resurrected herself with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Since then she has been spotted in fine films like Tank Girl, wherein she played the Cole Porter-hating madam of the scary whorehouse that tried to sell TG's little sister to the icky perv played by none other than Iggy Pop. Remember? She led everyone in a rousing chorus of "Let's Do It! (Let's Fall in Love)".

In more recent years, Joan Jett has taken the Broadway stage as Columbia in a revival of The Rocky Horror Show, replacing the movie's famous Time Warp tap-dancing sequence with a reportedly kickass guitar solo. How cool is that?
