Born in Wisconsin, John was a talented American football player, so good in fact that he competed in two Super Bowls, XI and XV. He was the Houston Oilers' Number 1 pick of the 1973 Draft, he was then traded to the Kansas City Chiefs and then on to the Washington Redskins, he finally settled at the Oakland Raiders where he was defensive lineman.

Bert Jones (Baltimore Colts) was once sacked by John at the 5-yard line. He was so impressed by the play that he got up, ran five yards toward Matuszak, shook his hand, and helped him up. He retired from the game in 1982.

His full filmography:

As well as numerous films he made guest appearances in television shows such as The A-Team and Dukes of Hazzard, John died in 1989, at the age of 38. His death has been attributed to AIDS related illness, Heart failure and drug overdose. Or perhaps he had AIDS, took painkillers to ease his suffering...he accidentally overdosed when he was in tremendous pain, and this gave him a heart attack. That's my theory anyway.
