RIP KENNETH WILLIAMS

22/2/26 - 15/4/88

--"------"----|@

Born: Actually on Bingfield street, in South London. Kenneth was brought up in the family home above his Father, Charlie Williams, Hairdressers shop.

Family: Mother, (Louie), Father (Charlie) and Sister (Pat).

Biography: At the age of 14 he was sent to learn the trade of Lithography at, Bolt Court. He went into the Army in 1944 was there until 1948. In the army Kenneth was an entertainer, and joined the Combined Services Entertainments (CSE) where he met Stanley Baxter.

Kenneth wanted to pursue a stage career, and started off by working for Newquay Repertory, and then performed the play, soon to be a hit, "Share My Lettuce". Kenneth soon became a household name in Britain, and was adept at humouring most who crossed his path, either in meeting or on stage. He wished most of all to be known as a serious actor and not a comedian, but he would still reliably use his talent for entertaining people.

Kenneth is best remembered for his comedy skills of his career the "Carry On" Films. His acceptance of his First Role in the "Carry On" as James Bailey in "Carry On Sergeant" 1958 was the first of a whole stream of Carry On films to be made. Not knowing that over the next 20 years he would make another 25 of them often out of loyalty. He was also a star in Radio in shows such As Hancock's Half Hour, Round The Horne, Just a Minute and Beyond our Ken.

He hosted his own Shows - "The Kenneth Williams Show" and "Stop Messin" About.", and was a regular loved guest on Chat shows such as Wogan and Parkinson.

Kenneth remains a pillar of the comedic community even in his demise, and continues to provide entertainment for his fans in the Carry On series and all other things he was associated with, which he gave so much character. His light will live forever in his domineering and loving fans, who miss him dearly to this very day.

Kenneth, you are surely missed.

Special Thanks to Lady_Day for the encouragement :-). Bear in mind that everything released after Kenneth's death is either a re-release, a Carry On movie which was never released originally (and eventually was) or a special Carry On without Kenneth (which dedicated a portion to the memory of Kenneth)*.
