A
reserve regiment (commonly refered to as the
Militia) in
the Canadian Army. The King's Own is a part of the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps and is based out of
Calgary,
Alberta,
Canada. The King's Own trains in
Wainwright,
Alberta on Cougar
tank trainers.
The King's Own has a long history dating back to 1910. During WW2, the King's Own was designated the 14th Armoured Regiment (
Calgary Regiment), but was known to all as the '
Calgary Tanks'. The Calgary Tanks took part in the ill-fated
Dieppe raid.
