Kinnie
Kinnie (pronounced Kee-Knee) was originally developed by
Simonds Farsons Cisk in Malta in 1952 as an alcohol-free beverage. It is made from bitter oranges and aromatic herbs, and has a peculiar orange colour which looks like urine. Goes down well with a number of alcoholic drinks and cocktails, or with a slice of orange.
History
- 1952:Kinnie was sold in a specially designed 17cl bottle with paper labels
- 1959:The paper label was replaced by a ceramic label
- 1974:Bottle capacity changed to 30cl
- 1984:Diet Kinnie was introduced
- 1992:One litre bottles were introduced & Kinnie and Diet Kinnie became available in kegs and cans
