(1957- ) Power-hitting outfielder for the Detroit Tigers in the 1980s and 1990s. Led the Tigers to a World Series championship in 1984. Joined the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1988, winning the National League MVP award and leading the team to a World Series victory over the heavily favored Oakland Athletics. On October 15, 1988, hit one of the most famous home runs in baseball history to win game one of the Series for the Dodgers, despite being virtually incapacitated by leg injuries. Never named to an All-Star team.
