A neighbourhood in Vancouver bounded on the north by English Bay, the south by Kerrisdale/Shaughnessy, the west by Point Grey/UBC, and the east by Granville St, more or less. It is primarily residential, mostly single family houses, with 4th, 9th (Broadway) and 16th Avenues being commercial strips with many small shops. It is an odd mix of ex-hippies & yuppies, young families, and the greek community. In recent years it has become a very trendy place to live, with Capers and other high-end commercial natural/alternative shops moving in among the old home-grown crystal and book and natural food stores - on saturdays people from all over the city can be found converging on the various shops. By the waterfront is Kits Beach, which has an outdoor saltwater pool, and east towards false creek is Granville Island, a popular (read: CROWDED) marketplace & arts mecca. The streets are quiet at night and lined with trees - it's a nice little place to live.
