The
Knights of
Columbus is a brotherhood of
Catholic men that was founded in 1890. They are a non-profit organization dedicated to furthering the community. They generally partake in activities to enrich and further the lives of:
Catholics - Old men who like to drink beer and play bingo and are into Jesus love the K of C. It's like a religious
Moose lodge.
Children - The "K of C" that my family was affiliated with held haunted houses and children's Christmas parties.
The Mentally Disabled - The Knights of Columbus are the guys who hold
Tootsie Roll drives every march to raise money for programs such as the
Special Olympics.
Their sister organization is the
Daughters of Isabella - which I always thought was really "thuhdeeuhvie" since that's what my grandmother called it.
