The SR is the second rackmount version of the Wavestation EX. It offers 8 ROM banks with all the sounds from the EX and A/D, including a 30-tone drumkit.
Unfortunately, programming the unit is much harder than on the A/D. Every parameter can still be accessed, but the big display is replaced by a small 16x2 LCD and the button layout is minimal. Furthermore, the analog audio inputs from the A/D are missing, somewhat limiting the module's potential.
