Deputy Commander of Special Agency
NERV. Prior to
Second Impact, he served as
professor of
Meta-Biology at the
University of Kyoto. This is also where he came to know
Yui Ikari and
Gendou Rokubungi. Immediately following
Second Impact he was in opposition to
Gendou Ikari, but after their meeting at the U.N.
Artificial Evolution Laboratories, he reversed his position and cooperated with Gendou. He appears to have harboured more than a little affection towards
Yui Ikari.
