A sizeable lake on the border of
Minnesota,
Ontario, and
Manitoba and part of the
Great Lakes System. It flows to
Lake Superior through the
Rainy River, which forms the Minnesota-Ontario border. For some reason the northern
boundry of Minnesota jogs northward into the lake, clipping a piece of land on the other side, making it the northernmost point in the lower 48.
The lake is in the region that features some of the coldest winter temperatures in North America. I've never been there, but its name conjurs up thoughts of serene isolation and wilderness, so I'm going to imagine it that way.
