The classic first Beastie Boys LP. These sessions were the apex of BB 2.0, no longer the lame hardcore band of their "youth". The tour, with free-flowing Budweiser and a chubby "go-go girl" dancing in a cage, featured loutishness that went beyond the goofy "Fight for Your Right" video, and befit perfectly their rhymes. The hardrocksamples (e.g. the opening Bonzofest from Led Zeppelin's "When the Levee Breaks" on "Rhymin' and Stealin'") were great; the use of human guitarists (e.g. on "No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn") was rockist pandering, best left to Run-DMC.
