These weapons (oftens called
LAWs) are short one-use
bazooka style weapons in the form of a
cylinder which can be carried by an infantry man. Sheaths pull out either end to extend the tube and they can be quickly deployed to take out mechanised cavalry or more normally hardened gun emplacements etc.
Tyne Daly's character in the Dirty Harry Movie "The Enforcer" can be seen looking down the back (where the flames rather than the rocket come out) just before one is fired.
