Character in a whole lot of
picture books by originally by
Mercer Mayer, put out by
Golden Publishing. Some are now co-written by Mayer's family members. In the majority of the books, Little Critter is a
male creature of indeterminate species (hence the name, I suppose) who seems to be pre-
school-aged and lives with his
mother,
father, and little
sister. "Just Me and My Dad," "Taking Care of Mom," "Just A Mess," and titles like that.
There is now a series of chapter books for slightly older children in which Little Critter has abbreviated his name to L.C. -- the whole series is called "L.C. and the Critter Kids." The pictures of L.C. in standard late-1990s pre-teen clothing on the covers are not nearly as cute as younger illustrations.
