The third novel in Laura Ingalls Wilder's "Little House" series, published in 1935. Pa decides that the Big Woods are getting too crowded, so he packs his family into a covered wagon and heads to Kansas. There, they build a new house, explore the prairie, and meet Indians both friendly and hostile, all of whom Ma despises. Finally, word comes that the land is still part of Indian Territory, and the Ingallses are sent packing further west.
