Long-running comic strip from the pages of the
Beano.
Lord Snooty (real name
Marmaduke Bunkerton) is a little toff in a
top hat, who leads his gang of
pals (who he obviously pays to hang around with him) into battles with the
Gasworks Gang (a similar outfit to the
Bash Street Kids, only evil). They would get into all kinds of
scrapes, usually involving the
fat kid eating everyone's
lunch at some point. The strip was created by
Dudley D. Watkins in
1938, and has run in some form for over 50 years.
Lord Snooty is mentioned on two Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band tracks : The Intro and The Outro and My Pink Half Of The Drainpipe. The strip was something of a quaint anachronism even then.
