The technical name for the first iteration of the G4 Processor used by Apple Computer. The Motorola chip was notable in that it could process data in 128-bit cycles, unlike the Pentium's 64-bit cycles. This capability was referred to by Motorola as AltiVec and by Apple as the Velocity Engine. The chip was also capable of SMP, unlike the newer MPC 7450.
