Surfer lingo for a specific type of surf boards. The Malibu type board is an american style board, 8'6" to 10'6" in lenght. This style originated in the fifties and quickly became the de facto surf boards for american and australian riders. These are in production today, but the originag balsa wood and plywood have been replaced with foam and fibre glass.

Often the same as longboards, but sometimes, that term is used on the traditional boards of the Hawaiian culture, Malibu boards are always new-style.
