Also called Brigitte or Brigid. The wife of Baron Samedi. She is the loa responsible for protecting graves marked with a cross. She is often associated with Catholic saint Brigid.

Maman Brigitte is one of the loa, or spirits, of Voodoo. Like her husband Baron Samedi, she is strongly associated with death and cemeteries. If the first person buried in a new cemetary is a woman, that cemetary is said to belong to Maman Brigitte. If the first person buried is a man, it is said to belong to Baron Samedi.

She was one of the loa (Alternately spelled "lwa") that made frequent appearances in William Gibson's Count Zero and Mona Lisa Overdrive.
