This CD, recorded in 1989 and 1993 and released on Les Disques du Crepuscule, consists of guitarist Marc Ribot playing the compositions of his teacher, the Hatian guitarist and composer Frantz Casseus (1915-1993).

Pretty and quiet, these classical guitar pieces were written over the course of 40 years. Because they are fully composed pieces, they have very little of Ribot's personal stamp. However, the works are engaging in their own right, and the recordings present Casseus' work beautifully.

Ribot writes in the liner notes, "I have made this recording with the hope that it will help reawaken an interest among listeners and classical guitarists alike in this beautiful but neglected body of work."
