Leader of a Hawaiian avant-garde jazz band. Denny had several famous albums in the 50's and 60's including Exotica, Exotica II, and Moog Exotic. He basically founded the genre of jazz known (oddly enough) as exotica.

His records are full of animal sounds and jarring noise effects, and combine a mish-mash of folk styles from around the world. One song will be a Chinese ballad with a Western tinge to it, and the next will be an Irish jig played on something sounding like a sitar.

Very cool, and not as difficult to enjoy as the previous description might suggest. Think Don Ho meets The Lion Sleeps Tonight meets John Coltrane.
